Big Changes Coming! Lahore High Court Orders Electric Motorcycles to Fight Smog!

Lahore High Court Orders Electric Motorcycles to Fight Smog

In a historic decision, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Punjab government to replace petrol-powered motorcycles with battery-operated bikes. This step aims to tackle the rising smog problem in Lahore and make the city cleaner and healthier.

Why the Change?

Justice Shahid Karim emphasized that the smog situation in Lahore is serious and needs urgent action. Petrol motorcycles produce harmful smoke that pollutes the air and affects public health.

By switching to electric motorcycles, the government hopes to reduce pollution and make the air safer for everyone to breathe.

Other Steps to Fight Smog

The LHC has also asked the government to take additional measures, such as:

  • Introducing electric buses for public transport.

  • Developing a policy for improving small and medium public transport systems in Lahore.

  • Planting more trees to clean the air.

  • Moving polluting factories away from city areas.

Advocate General Maqbool Ahmed Bhatti shared that the Punjab government has already set aside funds to buy electric buses. These efforts show a strong commitment to making Lahore smog-free.

My Opinion

I think this is a fantastic step! Smog affects everyone, especially children and the elderly. Switching to electric motorcycles and buses will not only improve the air but also make our lives healthier.

If we all support these changes, Lahore can become a cleaner and greener city. What do you think about this initiative? Let’s work together for a better future!
